• Anna Jarvis promoted Mother’s Day in Grafton, West Virginia. Later, on July 5, 1908, people celebrated Father’s Day in Fairmont, West Virginia.
• The day paid tribute to 362 men who died in a coal mining incident.
• People in Europe have celebrated Father’s Day on March 19 since the Middle Ages. 
• The Spanish and Portuguese introduced the day to Latin America. 
• Countries celebrate Father’s Day in separate months – March, May, or September.
