The month of July in the United States represents the period that the country declared its independence as a nation. July also commemorates midsummer, a time of the year when natural plant growth has reached its peak.
If it’s raining or too hot to stay outside, you perhaps feel the need to color to keep your mind occupied. Some ideas for July coloring pages may appeal to adults and not just children, and not all of them are just for Independence Day.
4th of July Themes
American Flags
This coloring page example represents the simplest of all the American flags you maybe could color for 4th of July. Alternatives include a flag that waves against a sky or a flag on a pole in front of a courthouse. Countless other variations might exist, such as those mixed in with fireworks or coloring pages with or without text.
American flags also appear at many other summer events whether patriotic or not, including Labor Day, which recognizes the workforce, and Patriot Day, which commemorates lives lost on September 11, 2001.
Statue of Liberty
The official dedication of the Statue of Liberty took place in 1886, which was 110 years past the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Construction for it didn’t quite complete in time for the centennial (100-year anniversary) of the U.S. breaking free from Colonial Great Britain.
However, it still remains one of the most significant symbols of American freedom as of 2022. This coloring page could provide you a bit more challenge because of the statue’s detail.
Fireworks
Fireworks have received mentions as the number one symbol of 4th of July, otherwise known as Independence Day. They seem to resonate in most people’s minds in connection with festivity and excitement.
Specifically for 4th of July, researchers determined fireworks to resemble the birth of a nation after America moved toward becoming a free country. It’s not always easy to stay within the lines when adding color to a blank firework page, but it will keep you busy.
Summer Themes
The Beach
Summertime represents a time of the year when people need to relax and take a vacation. They may not end up on an ocean beach thousands of miles away, but maybe they will sit on their porch coloring. Beach coloring pages remind most people of sunny days and fun. Beach pictures often inspire parents and children to use their imaginations, even on a rainy day.
Seashells
People of all ages seem to have a fascination with seashells. If they can’t find them on the beaches they visit, they can at least color pictures of them. Shells also represent beaches, which usually puts relaxing images in people’s minds. Seashell coloring pages come in both simple and complex versions for all experience levels. Seashells symbolize love and fertility, two important summer themes.
Flowers
Flowers commemorate summer events, including the start of the solstice season. They come in endless colors, which you can replicate when filling out July coloring pages. Floral pictures often bring about a sense of cheer, which you can preserve for colder months, especially winter.
Many people save their July coloring pages, including ones of flowers, year-round. It’s also possible to maybe have sketches of your own garden made from photos to help you remember brighter times of the garden year.
Animals
Animals represent an important part of nature, which you find active in the summer. Some people prefer to color zoo animals, such as giraffes or zebras. Other adults or children might instead appreciate farm animals. You might also consider having customized, black and white sketches of your cats, dogs, fish or other pets for increased personalization.
