Do you know Kung Fu? OK, how about Kung Fu coloring? If so, your quest has brought you to the final challenge: choose your weapons (your favorite pencils and crayons) and get ready to take on these Kung Fu coloring pages.

Kung Fu comes in an many styles as it does colors. Dig in with your hardest pencils as you color the roaring attacks and lashing defenses of Tiger Style. Or brush the page with your softest pastels as you color the quiet movements of Tai Chi. Tint their colorful belts with your brushes as you imagine a duel at sunrise. Is that a Kung Fu fighter or a crane moving through the reeds, then skipping lightly across the treetops?

Most Kung Fu styles come from close observation of animals. A snake strikes, an eagle swoops, a horse stands strong. Can you color these animal spirits as they animate a fighter’s pose? Which ones should have bold blazes and which ones quiet shades? Think quickly, grasshopper!

Kung Fu is all about balance. Hard and soft, attack and defense, yin and yang. But all things have a combination—a balance. Can you blend the colors so even the brightest hues have a bit of darkness? Imagine a meditating warrior as you look within your own heart to create these Kung Fu coloring pages.

When the student is ready, the master appears. Imagine the apprentice and the “sifu” (teacher) practicing their poses. Color the lined face and careful movements of the ancient master; sketch out the impatient student eager to put practice to the test. Behind them is the verdant Chinese countryside where adventure awaits.

Use your favorite crayons and pencils to color the bold movements and acrobatic poses of the Northern styles. Southern Kung Fu is more suited to crowded streets and narrow alleys. Imagine a confrontation in one of these quiet city corners. The assassins ominously advance. The master is calm and unperturbed. Rain begins to fall and street lamps flicker. Color the play of light and shadow across an open hand, an outstretched fist.

Do you know the western stars of Kung Fu? How about Bruce Lee, facing off against a dozen assailants, delivering a flurry of kicks with his baggy black pants and flashing eyes. Or Michelle Yeoh, master of every weapon, her hair whirling as she spins a sword across the blade of her opponent. And don’t forget Jackie Chan, Kung Fu’s funny man, using everything from car doors and can openers to dodge and disarm his enemies. There’s even The Matrix (if you’re old enough to remember it). Keanu Reeves still knows Kung Fu—after all he was programmed to learn it inside the sickly green and gray world of computer coded agents bent on world domination! How will you remember these famous film fighters as you attack these Kung Fu coloring pages?  And don’t forget the animated Kung Fu TV stars. A black-and-white panda named Po and his animals pals fight for justice and the occasional dumpling. Bounce a bright blaze of color onto the page as you remember Kung Fu Panda and friends.

Like all martial arts, Kung Fu can be violent. A black eye. A splash of red across the page. But Kung Fu, wu shu, budo all mean protecting the oppressed, and ending the violence. Imagine the hero hanging up her blade. The student finally finds the master within. Are you ready? Draw your pencil and draw the line. Dip your brush and paint your calligraphy. Where will you find your inner peace, grasshopper? Perhaps here in these Kung Fu coloring pages….
